“Man can defy gravity, but how come we can’t defy falling in love?”

It’s a question that confronted me when I woke up this morning.  And honestly, it came to me as a surprise.  I do not know the answer to that question, so I asked some friends, and my friend Al gave me a very smart answer to that:

“Because gravity does not have a heart that commands it to love.”

And I couldn’t agree more. This led me to the idea that much as I fear falling in love again, as long as my heart is beating, as long as I am alive, I am capable of falling in love whether I like it or not.

I wish

I wish I could tell you that I miss you,

That I secretly wish it was you calling me on my phone,

That you think of me as I think of you often,

That I could see you now and hold your hand

And walk together and talk about silly stuff that would make me giggle.

But then…I also wish that

I wouldn’t miss you as much,

Wouldn’t think of you as much,

Or wouldn’t long for you as much
